Ingredients

  • 500g frozen peas
  • 500ml chicken bone broth
  • Large handful mint leaves, washed
  • Pepper to taste

The recipe

This is such a simple recipe but one of my absolutely favourites. You can get creative if you want to add some extra green veggies- I sometimes add in a few balls of frozen spinach but it’s just as good with only peas.

Bone broth is known for it’s gut-healing properties – glutamine, glycine and gelatin have been shown to help maintain the gut mucosa – a layer of mucus that forms a protective barrier against unfriendly microbes, and to maintain and even help repair the intestinal barrier (to stop undigested food particles, toxins and pathogens from passing through into the blood stream).

Glycine also helps to stimulate stomach acid which aids digestion and is used in the production of bile acids, which help to digest fat.

Method

Method

  • Add the frozen peas and bone broth to a pan, bring to the boil and simmer for 4 minutes
  • Add the mint leaves
  • Blend and enjoy – it’s that simple!
